・それはともあれ be the matter as it may; however that may be.

●能力はともあれもうあの年では勤まらない. Whatever his capability may be, he's too old for the job.

・理由はともあれ彼女の行為は許しがたい. Whatever the reasons, her actions are unpardonable.
